Honorable Fire Socks

These socks by Jill Jillsknit were made for her SIL, the fire captain. They had to be tall tall tall to wear with fireboots, and they're a lovely rib.
Jill used Maizy Maizy colors
more details here... including so many pretty - er handsome -cat pics ! i need to post some pics of my own menagerie!

Jill's just lost her mom recently, and as i lost mine in Jan, i do understand that empty feeling...

diamonds in his shoes

Laura Patterson Fiberdreams designed "diamonds in his shoes" for her DH, using Maizy sock yarn by Crystal Palace. The pics on this page of our website has a link to her SockPatternswithCrystalPalace and you can also see a variety of Maizy colors HERE

What's particularly interesting to me is to see the lovely version of the same design knit by
Veganknitting, also in Maizy.

I really like how this design looks! Kudos to both LP and Vegan knitter!

Lazy Maizy

mak

Wait until you feast your eyes on these pretties!
they're by Kala whose blog is VeganCraftastic and it's a new pattern she's designed called "Lazy Maizy".

The yarn is Crystal Palace Maizy, and Kala made them to be comfy "Lazy" socks.

I must confess i was thinking about Kala today, as i was making curried lentil burgers.

Crock pot of lentils, with seasoning and bay leaves; rice cooker of brown rice with some
kashi grains. sauteed 1/2 large onion with 2-3 tablespoons! (that's right) of curry powder; sauteed 3 minced celery stalks. (it's important to heat the curry powder in skillet - kind of frying it takes the "edge" off or makes it better - and not bitter- in recipe).
mix 2 cups whole wheat bread crumbs, 2-3 cups of DRAINED lentils - the draining juice is a yummy soup!, and 2-3 cups of rice, plus the onions and celery. make patties and cook in black iron skillets on stove.
yummers! and beats $4 for commercial veggie burgers!

ps this is my own adaptation of the spicey black bean burgers you can find at veganagogo

Star Search - Wednesday this time!

I wanted to show you a gorgeous man's sock design by Laura fiberdreams, for the new Maizy (corn fiber) yarn. The innovative title is "diamonds in his shoes"!

Laura [hmmm why do i love that name? LOL) has graciously permitted CPY to post the pattern, but do remember copyright, and specifically that the pattern is for personal use only! It is Laura's design!

I do understand the fun & agony of designing for one's significant other. In my case, Al has this thing about TALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL socks, so he wants a sock that's about 13 in above the heel, and then of course the larger man's foot.
so i usually do socks for him with a sport/dk wt. Merino-5 is a perfect yarn, knits quickly and soooo soft and lovely, and he's a happy camper.

blessings, :L, laura
ps have pics of a just finished "Ribbons" sock design using the new Panda Silk.
