In my younger years, I spent many wonderful summers in western Ontario,
Canada where my grandparents had a log cabin home on a pristine spring-fed
lake abounding with natural beauty and wonders. Whenever seeing the Maple
Leaf emblazoned on the National Flag of Canada, my memories of those happy
times I spent in Canada resurface. And thus, when offered the opportunity to
design socks as a tribute to my northern neighbors, a maple leaf motif
seemed an obvious choice as a focal element.

Panda Silk Ribbons

I just finished this sock a couple of days ago. So that means i still need to finish the details on writing up the pattern.

the part i enjoyed the most was the ribbon stripes - turned out well, don't you think?

what is very exciting is that i am now unequivocally convinced that there is a lot lot of yarn in the panda silk skeins! i have now repeatedly made 7-8 in legs [above the heel] and then my 9.25 in foot, and still have leftovers.

ooh.. panda silk leftovers. droolworthy!!

so my current knitting is working on those leftovers to make a surprise, and also on a new sock with the gorgeous tonal green panda silk. i sure wish i had more hands! the solid green wants to be cables and it keeps talking to me!!

Ssssh, it's really Monday, but I'm late posting these!

What can i say, I've been helping the gnomes knit and the time got away!

This is a new scarf in Panda Silk designed by KyleAnn Williams - named "Silken Ease".

It's about 6 ft long... and the color is Butterscotch tones ...

what do we mean by "and More" ?

Remember that "socks and More" in the blog title?
Well, this is why.

Shown below is Sandy Mann, modelling a great new design by Nancy Wild. Nancy designed and knit the sweater for her sister, who was thrilled with the softness of the Panda Cotton yarns.

This top, designed for "ample petites" is made with Panda Cotton, and was designed by Nancy Wild,
who also has a new Michigan shop!
The pattern can be found at Crystal Palace Yarns.

You can see the excellent drape, and with the bamboo content of the yarn and it's relative-light weight - this is one summer top that won't be too warm!

Panda Silk Express Delivery

This is what the mailmail brought me yesterday, and i had to DROP everything to cast on. This is the new CP Panda Silk, which - true to it's name has bamboo and silk- and the yarn has this incredible sheen! You know it's silk just looking at it.

However, it is a very well-behaved pretty, working just fine on my #2 bamboo needles from CP, for a gauge of about 8 spi [32 st/10 cm]. I wanted to use a sock-appropriate gauge, just to see how it will handle, but the colors were so yummy i wanted it against my neck so scarf has won out in terms of design.

I need to try a shot against a different background to show you the mini-cables flanking the two C4 cables,

and this is one yarn with which moss st is a joy - just watching the colors and feeling the silk flow through your fingers.
