this is lovely, if i do say so myself! new colorway of Puffin - called pink print- gorgeous colors!! and it is the most amazingly soft yarn - so nice for babies! the big ruffle will provide shade for the wee one's face in the sun... the cables add texture and fun.
am going to do a boys version with rib and no ruffle.

Pretty Pink Puffin

Puffin is a very intriguing yarn- soft flannel strips with a good body so it can handle difficult or heavy structural elements. I personally enjoy how it feels to touch and to knit and of course it's fun to work on something that's quick too!

Now, this sweet baby hat is one i've just finished knitting, using 2 colors of Puffin. You can see more of the colors here Puffin color cardis just amazing to knit with - like flannel strips - it is soft and warm and comfy and fun and you just love the recipient will love it - and be adorable too!


My Merino-5 Merino-5 Solids chemocap is a kind of almost pink, being burgundy, and i thought
it counted when i went looking... i mean Dark Pink is still pink, yes? and this color makes me think of Roses, Merino-5 printed colors so how pink can you get? Merino-5 is an amazing yarn - so soft and wonderful but with a really good "hand" so you get great stitch definition, as you can see by looking at the cap i made.


Finally, you've seen this sock in previous blogposts I think - made with 2 colors of Panda Silk. Panda Silk colors

What you can see if you look closely, is that the sock is called "ribbons" because of some novel vertical striping - that's not hard but is a lot of fun!

what's been happening lately

Well,

i've been drooling over the silk sooooooooooo much that i've not shared some other fun stuff.

this yummers hat is what i've been having fun with. the yarn is Iceland from CPY www.straw.com to see the colors. this pic is of the adult hat; am now working on one for a baby.

and doing a version in lovely Kaya.

the pattern should be up soon with other free patterns, and pics on models and etc.

as always, go to http://www.straw.com/ and click on links to find scads of free patterns, including some well-organized lists for amples and socks and more! there are also pages showing you all the yarn color cards.

also, this is "the peggy shawl" in strawberries-limes kid merino [oooh soft!]

with a starting closeup and a final view.

this was knit by kyleann williams whose blog is on the sidebar. the shawl is [i think] a jackie es pattern.

here are more shots of my nutmeg sock - the foot has a ribbed instep, which feels yummy,

the design is by me, and the yarn is panda silk.

you can see that i carried the leg design down onto instep until i finished the gusset decreases; then i ribbed the foot the rest of the way on top, and used another rib underneath.

the final pic is of the "wildwest" or cowboy/cowgirl puffin slippers. this pattern is in a baby size as well as being sized for adult woman or man. it is quick and fun and soo soft.

Fun with Yarn

I've been having a ball playing with a new Yarn from CPY called Puffin. It is just amazingly soft, feels like suede and is a lot lot lot of fun to work with! (er umm, i keep having more ideas). It seems to really show detail as you work with it, and did i mention soft? It truly is soft enough to convince ANY fiber snob, and that includes my own husband who wants slippers sometime!

First, This hat and booties are by Barbara Breiter & can be found at Crystal Palace Free Patterns. Colorways for the yarn are here. Barbara also knit this great cowgirl vest (it would be masculine i think in black, and there's a great buckskin color!) This yarn does have that fun fringe feeling,

so these are some of what I've been knitting and designing myself - the wild west fringed baby and adult slippers... as well as plain baby slippers. and i have a wonderful (er um IMHO) hat almost done. The baby blanket is by Susan Druding and the adorable model is grandson Marcelo. The blue buttoned hooded cardi is by Dawn Leesman and it's Marcelo modelling.

That's also Marcelo in the lime hoodie by Barbara Breiter, who is the hat designer too!

Trust me, you want to touch this yarn, as i don't think there's anything i can say to convince you until you touch it!
